Hazel’s diary: World’s greatest daughter

Staring at an infancy
I could smell her fantasies
And wonders of her dreams,
Walking through the autumn leaves.
With innocence at its peak
Belly laughing, at a trick
When she chuckles, I chuckle
When I guffaw, she guffaws.
She fetches the handkerchief
To dry tears on others cheek
She is a tower of strength
God bless her future friends…
There seems to be so much joy
Watching her pet her own toys
Pampering them like they breath
Dancing to songs and the beats
She reminds me time does flies
Reciting nursery rhymes
Watering flowers in jars
Bringing back the nostalgia.
Her mindset is an atlas
Running around with sparklers
Best part is when she calls me;
“Da.. da.. dad” exhorting me.
She is my first noble prize
More than it meets the eyes….
Of a billion, she chose me
And I like how great it feels.
Like the breeze from the ocean
Cooling soul with such passion
I’m proud to be the father
Of the world’s greatest daughter.

Lament from tribal marks
Before the mouth produces a sound
Before the tongue would even be heard
I provided details of such nativity…
To tradition; I was its nitty gritty,
Finding my way down torn mortal flesh
Significantly more than scars can fetch
I had varying lines on the leather trace
Birthed from the blades of tribes and race.
I dignified pride, I was the mark of heritage
A healer older than the rock of age
I saved millions of lives from a bloodbath
Although I was also a victim of my own fate
I provided a tribal identification
Until my hosts felt I was an ugly vulture
A cock and bull hovering a cultural based
Disfiguring a supposed beautiful face…
As the night makes way for a new day
My existence gradually fades away
From bodies I gave the warmest embrace
Distinguishing them from another tribe and race.

The lady man
Who is such a darling
She isn’t that stainless
But she is the sweetest of goddess
She makes the sun shine
And gives sweet taste to a wine,
She is to affection a magnet
Impeccably perfect.
She dignifies her skin
With such kindness within
Staying golden and true
Indeed, her kind is few…
She speaks so smoothly
Creating that heavenly
Environs of pleasure
No mortal can measure…
She has her own scars
But it doesn’t deter
Her magnanimity
To help communities…
Although her skin is dark
Her heart of gold never lacks
Love rainbow and tender care blend
Showering down to never end.

Existing in a movie

Staying a bit longer, to me is no more
Since sands turned to bloods on the floor
Somebody, anybody come save me
Save me from the collapsing hill
Sadly, every single dream I had is dead
Several years gone, yet suspense refused to end
Save me from a timeframe so unreal
Scan me to find tears filled to the brim
She is dying yet they see muse and thrills
Seamless are the pieces around her fallen tree
Silly politicians enjoy the role they play
Squandering the sands of her broken clay
Stupidly, they all seem to know no shame
Somebody ought to feel concerned of her dying name
She is Nigeria, drowning across all ages
Surprisingly, she doubts if she can be saved
Since snakes swallowed elephant in her script
Seriously, I wait to hear the director outside the script,
Screaming “cut!!!” in my lifetime otherwise,
Something in me will regret wasteful cries
Soiling the soil and suffering as a fictional character…..
Swimming in false hope she will get better.

Sold out by life
We fight to save threatened vultures
At same time, screaming, ‘save nature’
The next day, she wrecks havoc
Tearing down even papers and rocks.

Sanguine
You were part of our culture
With an integral function
Sanguine oh Sanguine
Sanguine oh Sanguine!
Do you detest Nigeria
So much that you forgot her?
We became more divided
Ever since you were hard to find
Sanguine oh Sanguine
Sanguine oh Sanguine
You were once our bedrock
Reason we do try out lucks
The fall of a dried leaf
Is roasting a million beef
Sanguine oh Sanguine
Sanguine oh Sanguine
On the spot where it rots
A new life ought to sprout
Instead shadows grow tall
With claws tearing us all
Sanguine oh Sanguine
Sanguine oh Sanguine!!!
Calamity lives here
Yet you left us to our tears.
