Somonka: Eleven questions

Men are enchanted by her glow
Even when she makes them know
That her heart belongs elsewhere,
Few bow and go, many men
Blow a fuse, and tear a drum.

But she stays faithful to one
Yet they feel she is heartless
Picking up her phone, she swipes;
How many will she delete
When they come every minute.

Somonka: Ex lovers

Under moon are two rovers
With scars swollen as goiters
And jars of roses withered
Wandering by the river
Where they had lost each other…

Posterity remembers
They connected like Rivers
Flowing sweetly together
Through promises of forever
They once made in the alter.

Somonka: off reds by Vinx and Laura

Breaks my heart to remember
I once thought that forever
We could last as good poetry
But unlike the broken pieces
You are lost in unused ink.

I know you are so convinced
I never did existed
But don’t you remember;
When it was love it was love
Not the hate-red you paint it.

Notes:
Below is the original tanka by Laura, I (Vinz) modified and added mine (Above)…

“It breaks my heart to remember
I once thought
We would last as long as poetry
I watch the sun set
I’m convinced you went with it”

Disclaimer: it was just a collaboration of poetry for fun and publication not a display of affection or heartbreak please

Somonka: Quiet Eulogy

Do not say adieu
When I ghost, to dust I came
I have got a book
Of dotted T’ and I’, printed
Clear and bold; easy to read.

Do not say adieu
When I am cold lying still
Read my disclaimer
Boldly titled; quiet eulogy
From a deep sweet word of tears

Say me no adieu
For we were never friends
Then why try to please
My drying bones, for nothing
Inside my home, ears are deaf

Say me no adieu
Nor sweetness for my bitters
Neither the vacuums
Should be false to please the ears
Sing me no beautiful praise.

If am what you say
Tell to face not when I ghost
Say welcome to me
While I breath, before you bid
Your last adieu when I leave…

If am what you say
Let me hear those kind words now…
Not in funerals;
Honor me while am awake
Not when I am in deep sleep.

Lagos

The horn blows loudest
In the city of Lagos
Land of opportunities

No one ever sleeps…
The yellow buses, street hawkers
Crowds arrive to take a chance.

The crazy traffic
Shines its beautiful magics
When lines fall in places as planned

Hustlers will hustle
And still make a low profit;
Clocks tick fast in Lagos town.

Tomorrow comes fast
Without even noticing
Yesterday was even dark…

With crazy rush hour
And the motivations fire;
Lagos life has its stories.

Looking back, at the
Beautiful city, often
Some lag while many progress

Some are saved by ticks
That hides all the ages that pass
While plebs yell; “Lagos… na wa!!!”

Somonka: Mr. and Mrs. Right

The sun shone out bright
After the flood came washing
Streams into an Ocean
And heart broken emotion
Turned into good erosion.

The past melted the times
When they came breaking the horns
It is dead and gone
The dawning of a new Sun
Mr. and Mrs Right’s turn.

Love is a sweet smell
When ordained, it rise and swell
Never burst as well…
Best men, bridesmaid, ring a bell
For these couples of sweet gel.

Soulmates

In the radiant of your lights,
We’re one and same spectra;
Having similar spiritual habits
Same sounds, and same drummer.

Snoring alike, we fall asleep
And travel from flesh and bones;
Into same dreams and share of leap,
To know the shape; of our lovely souls.

#10 lines (Somonka) – Cute sharks

You are uncertain;
So brave, so cute and so smart
Dwelling in an ocean…
You see her as a doormat
To empty fake love on her.

Nights you wink at him
With your teeth you draw shadows
And loathe him to dreams,
He loves you, yet you hunt him;
You guys are deceitful cute sharks.

#10 lines (Somonka) – Poetical Diction

You are the love poems
Exceptionally written
In different inks,
In accordance to your smiles;
You are so magnificent…

Adoring faults and spots
Your ravishing lines are chosen
By minds of great poets,
To appreciate your hotness
You’re the diction of a poet.
