Goodbye 2020
Like the dogs do howl
Mourning, gazing at the sky
I weep, waiting for a new year
Hoping it ends the fear…
It is not that I am scared
But I am really scared
I just want this year
To come to an end.
Lungs are gasping,
Caskets were selling,
Antisocial, a new norm
So humanity don’t disappear
I am not scared
I am not scared
I just want this year
To come to an end.
The untraceable chuckles
From muted giggles
Made goose bumps to find
Its way all over my skin
I am not scared
I am not scared
I just want this year
To come to an end.
This year has left a mark
Aside being in the dark
Lockdown and deprived.
…Who can boast of not
Being “really” terrified?
Would next year be worst?
I just want this year
To come to an end.
Tears burst through
Like a million worms
Crawling out so fast
Like lightening
From every pores
I am not scared
I just want this year
To come to an end.
Amidst the confusion
Came the massacre
Of underdogs protesting,
Demanding justice
From the fat lying pigs
Who unleashed the dragons
When all they wanted; was,
Injustice to come to an end.
In it, new kids were born
Yet the whirling mischief
From the blind bats and pigs
Threatens to spread forth
As a second wave
I am not scared
I just want this year
To come to an end.
Inside my head plays
So many uplifting songs
Each time the pandemic
Comes as a comical music
I am not scared
I am not scared
I just can’t wait for 12am
To scream: “happy new year!!!

Familiar strangers
Are we now familiar strangers?
Our silence seem to write love letters
On empty space through the louvers;
I miss you, let’s talk it over…
So we stop looking black as thunder
The patches can be fixed together
Indeed, we can grow over solders.
Are we now familiar strangers?
Dwelling hot under the collar
Seeing each other on a regular
Yet, do not speak to one other;
At times we do not seem to bother
But, even when we appear better
We are still fishes outside the water.
Are we now familiar strangers?
Instead of dwelling like lovers
Daily, we deteriorate farther
Engineering nights to become longer
If we stay forever strangers
The Sun would die becoming weaker
I am sorry, please break the borders.

Frail behind pictures
With you I saw into the future
It was awesome and so assured
And around your arms I felt secured.
We were strangers although not for long
Gradually I mastered the contours
Around your hips, details I could draw
Just like the plants fed with good manure
Our love grew more than wealth can procure
We were the pleasure of epicure
Perfect love was our miniature
Each time we sailed we made no detour
Through the air, water, land and moor
It was as though we wrote love’s brochure
Sadly we are only in pictures
A perfect couple with such allure.

The situation
Hey, do you know not all in armour
Shinning are Prince Charm to adore?
Even a beast bald, ugly in clothes and bare
Is far better than cute deceitful teddy bear.
Nothing hurts more than hearing goodbye
Each time your love is unable to buy
Pearls and diamonds yet like a fairy
Which you are, you turned obstacles into ferries
But your wishful thinking dies in paradise
Before your eyes while it all gets jeopardized.
Even with unending tears you endured pains
And persistently begged your dearest to stay
Yet nothing flows, her presence is never close
Inevitably, she never hesitates to say no.

He deserved to die
Nothing hurts like being tarred
With the same bush and evil cards
So just when the sun began to melt
And it seemed there was nothing left
Knowing you would never be back
As shadows spread out in the dark
I stretched out a gun and pulled the trigger
With no atom of regret nor did I shiver.
Sad? Tell me how could I fold my hands
While you fade out before my eyes
Into the crazy thin air on a journey
Of trusting, falling and cuddling…
Especially when it was made from flatters,
With the truth labelled monsters;
And a large cake which is not worth
Your precious burning candles and sweats.

Let’s not begin this
We have come to a point of no return
No hunting with the hounds and with hare run
For a broken bond may be soldered
But in all it still may never be sound.
We had our charms and individual flaws
But love had a face like the back of a bus
Repeatedly it did refuse to smile
And to the both of us, we truly know why…
Expectedly, it has come to an end
We would have been better much as friends
Not as lovers, evidently a fact
When weightless straw broke the camel’s back.

Let’s not begin the cupboard love
What we shared years ago was cupboard love
And the break up was a problem solved
The better pills effect never failed
For a comeback is dead as a doornail.
The heavens can wait for another spring
If our decays lead to the nuptial rings
And as the calm does come before the storm
The relationship would darken our door.

Let’s not begin yesterday
Let’s never begin our yesterdays
Even when we have the wind in our sail
As valid item in each other’s eyes
Giving the stomach pleasant butterflies
The most beautiful thing about our ashes
Like charcoals, it removes smells from armpits
We both have loved and have lost but anyways
We grew, righting wrongs in different ways.

Let’s not begin to remember
Let’s not begin to remember all
All the sweet hugs and salt on injured sore
Indeed we once had colourful feathers
That in the wind glamourously fluttered
Until the tantrums had the best of us
And time after time, time couldn’t heal us.
