Reasons to run (II)
Something can buy a soul
And make it all to glow
And the heart’s currency
Is love, why can’t you see?
Well, cupid close its eye
Love is a rather die
When it is rightly use
As a muse not misused
Don’t be a straight tree
In love that is unreal,
If it uproots the seeds
And it makes you to bleed,
Running away can stop
The tears that may drop.

Sonnet: The Frontliners
We all ought to copy a good example
From the selfless services that never prattles
When stuttering riffles, rapidly rattles
Taking shots for humanity in battles
That comes in various forms like balls in skittles
Knocking down breadwinners leaving no bottles
But just sour bitter tears in a teakettle.
Through dottles the Nation swallows her spittle
The devastation can never be bottled
But their offices are replaced while they whittle
Into narrow coffins holding their mettle
Most times their homes become a tent dismantled
But couldn’t they have left behind a castle ?
Sacrifices like theirs are far from a guttle.

Sonnet: Move in on
To make ends meet, we hustle
Sweating trying to solve life’s puzzles
Wandering while the time flies;
We forget the apples in our eyes.
Money chase, chasing careers
Distance created, sends love in couriers
But today should not be same
Kiss me and call me sugary names
Rest your soft hairs on my chest
Listen and count the pulses that are left,
Old woods still burns, muse still wows
But steam me up, for another hour
Take love as wheels, be my mow
Hold on a while to spoil me right now.

Finding tracks
We are in abundance
Yet we complain of darkness.
Inside pits, that are shallow;
We hide behind the shadow.
Our melanin we pour ore
Under the hot scorching sun;
Hot-cakes fly like birds, to lands
Where they can be better brands.
Leaving behind, the half baked
To dictate, the give and take,
Talking; whereas, as critics
We bury the beams and rays
Yet we beg for candlelights
From the waxes we burnt out.

Sonnet: The homily of family
Friends have turn necks
As storm comes to wreck.
If not you, then who,
Do I reach out to,
In times, I am low,
That will still follow.
I really love you
Oh yes, it is true
This is gratitude
Not a platitude.
Every word said
Can be repeated
As a homily
We are family.

Sonnets: Running ruined
Most times we try
But the discomfort
Comes to hunt us
With inflictions.
Pain in the ass
Break hearts like glass.
I know it is
What we stave off.
Yet it blesses us
In big disguise.
So why not bear
Until it fades
Bringing bright shades
That gladdens hearts.

Sonnet: Way to top
Between the top and the bottom
Blue is the sky across the bridge
Halfway through, the end always shift
Hoping to reach the other side
Therein bliss, sweet, milk and honey
Though, obstacles do exist
Before we get to promise land.
But every time we chicken out
On the first sight of hazard sign
Or upon sounds, when across it
There are no hitches nor glitches
Thus; an objective to maintain
All we have gained onto our names
And new status in hall of fame.

Sonnet: Heart Choices
Shivers; I fold,
Feeling so cold
On bed, I lay
By you all day.
You keep me warm
Under your arm
In raining times
Or harmattan
You steam winter
You chill summer
In all seasons
You give reasons
To love anew
And only you.

Sonnet: Entrusting death
Death, I know that you can sting
Poison my wine, I will drink
For if I begin to count
The knives, arrows and bullets
You have put into my chest
The ears that hear will go deaf
For eyes that saw still shed tears.
Death, I know that you can bite Between those claws and white teeth
I give you reasonable doubts
Not because, am scared of you
Nor because, am weak to fight
But, that stinging bees build hives
And ants that bite, still build hills.
