Like tall palm trees

The journey began as a joke
Till giant strides together yoked,
And there we stood, exchanging vows
Inner me smiled, exclaiming; wow !!!

Like a palm tree gallantly firm
Amidst the dust, and in the storm
Growing so tall, far from a fall
Never scared of heavy down pour

Instead making rich palm wine sap
And thick red oil that never slaps
May we never be affected
By seasons, no matter how red.

Dear Child; work and pray

Dews can be the sweats
Dropping from the efforts
Put into a plan
Or it could be God’s plan

When the leaves are all
About to dry, and fall
There comes a tiny fog
Keeping it wet, for long….

Trees that hide in shades
Are those that gets short changed.
Dear child, look outside
For results search and find.

I know you are good
At the things that you do;
But, pray that the dews
Will always fall on you.

Breaking norms

Lord keep me off “negative tongue”
And anyone that speaks ill of me.

Envelope me with your divine rays
Seal a stamp on me “thou shalt touch”.

Let no postman, hinder my grace
God give me strength, give me wit

To overcome whatsoever
Entity and who they might be….

Extinguish them if they all come
To torment or mock me in any form

For I have lived for this my turn
For my sake, dear Lord; break the norms.

Praise God

I drank of the cup
In the shelter of my parents
I screw up sometimes
I wimp too sometimes
But I see no reason to forget.

I was led and wired up
I smelt the undefined breathe
Of sins I experienced as health
Though I fight for wealth
I shall not cease to praise God.

So incomplete

Tell me of what purpose
Is a neck without a head
Or a head without a game
Or chess game without a king
Or a king without a throne
Or a throne without subjects
Or subjects without a face
Or a face without a teeth
Or a teeth without a mouth
Or a mouth without a tongue
Or a tongue without a taste
Or a taste without judgement
Or judgements by the moon-blind

What use is moon without Sun
Or the Sun without the light
Or the light without the heat
Or the heat without the cold
Or the cold without a breeze
Or the breeze without the chill
Or the chill without a road
Or the road without a path
Or the path leading no where
Or a crowded place yet empty
And no world, yet with round fences
Without you things make no sense
With a sense so incomplete.

Trouble knows me

Trouble knows me well
Trouble rings my bell
Trouble brings me hell
Trouble always care.

Every time I sail
I get many nails,
Piercing through my ship
Sinking my great sail.

Am I really cursed?
The preachers do say
For all your sins boy
The debts He had paid.

I often try to pray
But to no avail
And each time I sail
There comes another nail.

Entreaty For Success

  • Lord,
    Clout my words
    Set my hands
    And move my legs,
    Miss me from stoppage sword
Spot me like an innocent child
    Harden my cord
Let all difficult rivers be ford
    Stop all bees’ hordes
    As I go honey hound.
  • Milk and honey fond
    My life be straightforward,
    But if I’m to live to die wretched;
Why shall I be born or get my sword stretched?
    Oh, lord!
Like in my mother’s womb, give me a cord
    Strengthen me like a rod
Listen to my entreaty for victory.
