Dead men tell lies on May 29th

29th May hurts….!!!
Of what use are boats
If they can not float
Politicians pie
Countless lies on lies.

Lying through the teeth
Out comes the sworn oath
Last lines they recite
The flags are replaced,
Signs of the new race.

Up goes the bullets,
Twenty one loud shots,
Another man to eat
Another zone defaced
To frustrate the new face.

Sweet icing, but bitter cake

Water,
cocoa powder,
unsalted butter,
and vanilla extract
make sweet icing.

But,
icing on cake
is only a cloth
and not the cake,
you really crave to taste.

Most folks are
attractive,
on the outside
A type to gaze at,
and be mesmerized

A definition
of magnanimous
sexy and fine,
ravishingly hot
making sunshine hide.

But,
taking a bite,
and tasting inside
They fall short,
way far from expectation

So,
do not be moved
by the things you see
Not all pretty
have a pleasant beauty.

Sonnet: Breaking Boundaries

Amazing how one let go
Self-control and ego
Collapsing all the walls
That past memory holds.
Opposing families….
…And silly restrictions
Crossing carpets and locks
Breaking yokes, chains and rocks
Freeing rigidity
And great integrity
Falling towards the floor
At the sight of splendor
Into a caring hand
Of love heaven found.

Moving Past

Holes by the corner
Lessons and teachers
Band and a sealer
Bridge and a pillar
Built by a healer

Like force and actions
To all with functions
Use as it fashions
Past is a mansion
Just by a junction.

Travellers are dear
And are welcome there
To recline and cheer
To correct and share
Not to reside there.

Sonnet: Never Were

Fighters wear gloves to win
Trophies thrown in the bin
History tells of things
As it pleases, versions told.
Forgetting roots that hold
Forgetting ray but beams
Life is, a funny dream..!

Miserable but it seems
To have coat some sweet cream
And others bitter trims
Oh life is a short film
In case, it starts to dim
Don’t you fight or scream
At the end, no one wins.

Sleep Outlaw

When the sun comes up
We all rise from our bed
And as it sets, we crash…

When cock crows by dawn
While the alarm quakes,
Vibrating rise and shine

Most days I find it hard
Harder than a nut to crack
Letting go of slumber…

Such days, I twist and turn
Avoiding to say a word
With the frogs in my throat

But hold my pillow tight
Oh, it is not that am lazy
But sometimes I break the rule.

A brush with death

The air begins to leak
Inevitably,
During a brush with death
We are unable
But beckon for breath
Running from rest we seek.

Like tall palm trees

The journey began as a joke
Till giant strides together yoked,
And there we stood, exchanging vows
Inner me smiled, exclaiming; wow !!!

Like a palm tree gallantly firm
Amidst the dust, and in the storm
Growing so tall, far from a fall
Never scared of heavy down pour

Instead making rich palm wine sap
And thick red oil that never slaps
May we never be affected
By seasons, no matter how red.

Sonnet: The homily of family

Friends have turn necks
As storm comes to wreck.

If not you, then who,
Do I reach out to,

In times, I am low,
That will still follow.

I really love you
Oh yes, it is true

This is gratitude
Not a platitude.

Every word said
Can be repeated

As a homily
We are family.
